Clean room, nice pleasant staff. Could do with a refurbishment is my only gripe really. We had a one night stay for a wedding, and I would stay again.

Room was very clean and spacious. The mattress could be better. Very friendly and helpful staff. There was a wide choice of breakfast options but by 8.45am buffet food could have been hotter. But overall for the price, a comfortable one night stay.

Avoid this hotel

We arrived at 10:30 at night after a long journey. We checked in quickly and went to the room which was the furthest from reception. Neither keys worked and so I had to go back to the reception to get new keys. Once we got in our “privilege” room which we paid extra for there was an overwhelming smell of mould, we had to open the windows to air the room however the smell outside was even worse - it smelt like a dump!! The duvet was too small for the bed but it was late and we were tired. We got up to get a shower - the shower gel was empty so had to use the shampoo. I complained to the reception about the smell and lack of shower gel and I was assured the room would be deep cleaned. I returned to the room and also reminded the maid that we had no shower gel and the room smelt bad and she acknowledged it would get sorted. After a day out with our family we got back to our room and it had not been serviced and the smell was worse than ever. We had no towels which we had let outside the room - they had gone but nothing to replace them and the shower gel was still empty. We were unable to get a shower the next morning despite telling the reception we had no towels - no effort was made to bring us replacements. This is a mercure and I would not recommend it to anyone. We had a slip outside our window and a half demolished wall the other side I hate to think what a regular room is like if this is a superior room. Very disappointed despite several complaints nothing was done.

Staff are excellent and can't do enough for you. A good choice at breakfast. Car parking is simple with plenty of space. The refresh of the waiting area is a vast improvement - it now looks warm and welcoming.

A clean , comfortable hotel at a good price. Excellent staff and products. Room was clean and well appointed. The bathroom was well stocked with bathing products but could really have benefited from a small revamp. Shower head had alot of lime scale and the toilet wouldn't fully flush. I would definitely recommend.

Happy customer

Clean hotel, comfy bed, it was a great stay for 2 nights. Staff were very friendly and check-in process was very quick. The free use of facilities (gym & pool) was a bonus although do expect children’s classes going on as well. Hotel in good location as McDonald’s & KFC just a min away plus few othe shops. Overall, I’d recommend as good value gor money.

This hotel is well known to me and is absolutely fine but if you book a 'privilege' room do be aware that the privilege is not yours but the hotels for you staying with them and paying the extra, unless you describe a somewhat worn room, especially the 1980s bathroom, with associated fungi around the bath taps and caked limescale on the showerhead, and no fridge, a privilege... You do get a coffee machine and pods and slippers and gown though.! But overall it's perfectly comfortable and will be fine...

It was ok I found the flags very dangerous behind the hotel were you have tables and chairs near the gym and swimming pool not level at all. As for my toilet in my room it didn’t work properly at all . I did ask for it to be repaired however no one came to fix it

Very poor experience

Very poor experience. Stayed for 2 nights: The room smelt of mould and sewage; Hairs in the bed and toothpaste in sink; Paper thin walls, we could hear other guests snoring all night; Condensation on the windows, these windows were very old and needed replacing asap; Our key card stopped working when we arrived back to the hotel at midnight, it was a struggle to find someone to help us back into our room; The shower was but a trickle, a very unpleasant experience. In conclusion, this was one of the worst hotels we’ve stayed in in the UK
