But don't just limit your sightseeing to Tantangara. Take some extra time to check out some of the fabulous sights and activities that the wider New South Wales region has to offer. Don't even think of going home without visiting some of the region's amazing rural landscapes. History museums and craft workshops are popular sights also worth a look around. Additionally, if you've ever wanted to go snowboarding and skiing, you'll have the chance to in this part of Australia.

Everyone knows Aussies are pretty relaxed, so consider kicking back a little longer and checking out the Manuka Shopping Centre and the Embassy of Netherlands in Kambah, 50 kilometres to the northeast of Tantangara. The Alpha Hotel Canberra and Quality Hotel Woden are some of the great hotel and apartment options here. Or, you could stay in Farrer, 55 kilometres to the northeast of Tantangara, where you can choose from the Abode Woden and Abode Tuggeranong. If you stay in Farrer, set aside a little time to check out the Australian-American War Memorial and the National Carillon.

Make your way 60 kilometres northwest and you'll find yourself in Tumut, a regional centre with a population of 7,000. While you're checking out this neck of the woods, hang your camera 'round your neck and get your tourist on at Stockwell Gardens, the Tumut Golf Club and Tumut River. Bila Park and Tamut and District Neighbourhood Centre are a couple more attractions which are sure to offer up some choice photo ops.
