7 nights in Malta
Summary
~€930 for 8 nights in a ‘Superior’ room at the 1926 (which includes breakfast buffet). Bit overpriced, but pros and cons average it out. As others have mentioned, be aware of ongoing construction before you book!
Pros
- Great friendly service, from reception to breakfast to cleaners
- Good location for Ferry to Valetta or buses in either direction. Also near to Spar/Lidl and a range of bars/restaurants.
- Decent Sauna/Steam rooms
- Comfy bed
- Excursions. Hotel offered food tour/trip to Mdina/Marslaxlokk. We didn’t attend these trips but could interest others
- Good hotel gym
- Cardless entry and self checkout
Cons
- Ongoing construction so noises start and end late, even on weekends
- Pools are very small. The one on the terrace is only 80cm deep. Not many sun loungers, and these all seemed to be reserved quickly
- small and few lifts
- small spa area and only opened between 8-8.
- terrace only opened between 10-4!!
- the check in form on the iPad is incredibly frustrating to fill out (selected dial code especially)
- we were next to the staff room and there was a lot of noise and chatter
- the rooms aren’t well soundproofed. Can hear neighbours shuffling chairs for example
- breakfast buffet choices are limited. There are extras on the a la carte menu.
- the flexible shower head was rough at the edges. I managed to scratch myself on the first use as I wasn’t aware initially.
- one big water bottle for the room for the entire stay
