We enjoyed our mother and daughter vacation The resort is located in a beautiful area and the complex is safe and a great place for families. Our suite was lovely and we had a great view of the ocean. If you want a feel for the real Puerto Rico you will need a car to get out of the complex and explore. We took an uber to San Juan one day which cost around $50 each way. They are mid renovation and so some of the pool areas are closed and there is some noise during the day. There is a good selection of restaurants although the food is average and there is not much in terms of authentic PR food. The service everywhere was slow, including the take away coffee shop where it took 30 minutes in line for a coffee in the mornings.

Fantastic Stay at Wyndham Rio Mar Resort! Our family recently stayed at the Wyndham Rio Mar Resort from March 15-20, 2025, and we had an incredible experience! From the moment we arrived, we were met with warm hospitality and exceptional service. One of our top priorities when traveling is ensuring a safe dining experience for our son, who has severe food allergies to gluten, nuts, eggs, sesame, and dairy. The restaurants at the resort—Palio, Roots, Marbella, and Iguanas Cosina—were extremely accommodating. The staff went above and beyond to ensure his meals were prepared safely, which gave us such peace of mind. A huge thank you to the amazing staff members who made our stay extra special: Carl, Ms. Williams, Eduardo, Gustavo, Carlos, Melissa, Giselle, Ana, and Sandra. Their kindness and attention to detail did not go unnoticed!

Not what I expected, great spot (or so it seems). As soon as we landed they charged us another $600 in "resort fees". I get deposits, etc but this is just another 600 to use their facilities. Much of the staff isn't helpful if it isn't cleaning the room or getting you drunk or fed. I have a pic to share that shows the mildew or whatnot in the shower vent. No one knows about activities, the excursions they just hand you a QR code. Massage.... QR code. I want a vacay from my phone and to relax not deal with scheduling excursions via my phone. Our room has some mildew in the vent, there is not a kids play area bc it is closed (we are here for my daughter's spring break), the Margaritaville pool tastes of pee compared to other pools, construction going on where we hear saws and equipment going, casino is closed. They told of us areas being closed weeks before our stay which I mean what do you do when you're already stressed with work to reschedule. Oh and there is no transportation to and from the hotel to San Juan/airport to the hotel. So lame that we had to get a car or pay for their over priced transportation options (another QR code).

Great time?

Our family had a fabulous time! Check in was great, great info on what to do on and off the property. Room was great, property was clean and beautiful. Food and drinks were great. The only thing I would have liked to see different was the music being played at the 5 O’clock Somewhere was American music. I’m in Puerto Rico, play some Puerto Rican music!

Highly Recommend

We loved this property! The grounds are absolutely beautiful and it’s so close to El Yunque and Luquillo for exploring. The newly renovated pool is great for families. Our kids loved all the activities and lawn games. The breakfast buffet in Marbella was fantastic! And we also had a lovely dinner at Roots. The service throughout was excellent! We hope to return to see all the other renovations.

Property was beautiful, great amenities, housekeeping very efficient, room needs microwave, Construction should not start before 8, especially on Sunday morning.
