In general, The Catamaran is just ok. The grounds are not super nice, but are ok. The staff is ok, not super friendly. I went to workout in the fitness area- where there is a Locker Room, which anyone can enter, and seemingly use. However, there is no signage at all, and no staff indicated to me when I checked in at the front of the fitness area, that I could not use the locker room. I was literally undressing and getting ready to shower when a staff member told me I could not use the facilities, that it was part of the day pass charge. He indicated I had to leave immediately. Very poor customer service. The staff in general is ok, but for a "resort" type hotel/property and the price- I would expect a lot more.

So-So Experience

The pro: hotel is in a great location, Cons: it is rather dated and clearly showing signs of wear and tear. The furniture has lived its life in the room we had. Also, although we did not need housekeeping the day after our arrival, we did leave it available to clean, restock with coffee, water, etc. the third day and they were a no show. Didn’t like being charged a “Resort Fee”, $46/day and $40+ a day for parking or take your chances on the busy street. Probably would not stay there again.

I really enjoyed my stay at Catamaran, I will definitely return. The location is perfect, quiet, walkable and the staff was friendly. The only reason why I didn’t give 5 stars was because one night I called 3 times to see if they could bring me a corkscrew (I bought a bottle of wine, I forgot the corkscrew…) and they kept saying “yes, we’ll be right there” and they never came. I spent the night waiting for them. If they just said “no we don’t have any” I could have just gone out and bought one.

The view from the Tower (Bay View) was incredible. The room was clean and we loved sitting out on the balcony, set with a bistro sized table and two chairs. The view is a big plus. That being said, the room and tower in general need some updating. The decor is kinda 90’s tropical. Outdated. I didn’t like the bathroom set up. It’s one of those with a toilet, shower and a pedestal sink, and no room for all of your toiletries that you need. There’s a vanity outside the bathroom that is in a semi-private area, with a counter where you would put all of your toiletries. It would be fine if traveling with a significant other or alone, but being with my kids, it was a struggle to have privacy having to grab things from the vanity area and going back & forth without being seen lol. Just an inconvenience. The sofa in the room could use some updating due to wear and tear. I think the poolside view rooms and the bay front rooms in the bungalow looking buildings are more modern and updated. It’s a trade off situation because the tower rooms have an excellent view and is quieter because you’re higher up. I was pleasantly surprised though that our room had a kitchenette with a microwave, mini fridge and an air fryer/oven. What I loved about this resort is the grounds. So beautiful and lush. Love the koi pond that runs around the property. It really feels like you’re in a tropical paradise. We loved the onsite free arcade! There’s a $300 deposit they will have to hold until after c/o.

Catamaran is a beautiful hotel, we are repeat guests. I booked through Expedia, Garden View room and was give a standard parking lot view. The reception desk was not helpful, refused to give us the room we booked. I was very disappointed, put a negative spin on our whole stay. The lack of customer service was astounding.
