Holidays in Rookhurst

When your boss is on your back cos you've chucked too many sickies, it's time to escape the corporate treadmill and say hello to Rookhurst!

It's 460 kilometres northeast of Canberra, the capital city of Australia.

Sitting 65 kilometres to the east, Diamond Beach is a lovely place to spend a few hours scanning the horizon for ships. Seashells Beach also offers some pleasant scenery. You'll find this piece of coastline 65 kilometres to the east.

Break free on an adventure to some surrounding natural sights. 45 kilometres out of Rookhurst, Wingham Brush is waiting to be explored. Ellenborough Falls, 50 kilometres away, is another fabulous spot to kick your feet up.

There's even more to see and do just around the corner. Barrington, 12 kilometres to the south, is popular for the Gloucester Country Club and Saint Clements Historic Park. Though, if the Gloucester Folk Museum and Billabong Native Garden are more your thing, go 16 kilometres southeast from Rookhurst to Gloucester.

Clothes? Check. Wallet? Check. But have you packed your appetite? With some delicious food and drink to gulp down around this region, it's the one thing you won't want to forget.

A common ingredient in the fare here is beef. Another is oysters. They're worth getting a taste for if they're not a part of your food repertoire already.

There's always a local meal or two you must try, and when you're in Rookhurst, salt and pepper squid is certainly one of them. Meat pie is another specialty that you should keep an eye out for.

A meal is never truly complete without dessert, so don't worry about calorie counting and savour one of the most enticing sweet treats, peach melba.

If you really want to see the big pitcher, grab the hopportunity to knock back a beer. Schooner rather than later! Terrible beer puns aside, be sure to try Hahn, one of the most popular local brews.

To get the party going, enjoy a couple of shots of Bundaberg Spiced Rum. Drink it by itself or ask the barkeeper for any mixer recommendations.

It doesn't matter if you're an authority on vino or you don't know your whites from your reds, you're sure to appreciate a taste of the local Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon or Orange region Merlot.

Security checks, delayed flights and long lines. Airports are often very stressful. Give yourself extra time to find Kingsford Smith International Airport (SYD). Located 240 kilometres to the south, it's the nearest terminal.
