Very convenient hotel nearby the Stansted airport. The basic rooms are very basic, mine was lacking the shampoo and hand lotion and the wardrobe's door were broken. Dirty towels on the corridor floor for at least 20 hours. Room carpet badly stained. Room smelt musty and was tired and poorly equipped. Key cards kept failing and had to be reprogrammed. Communal areas were grim and unwelcoming. A very depressing stay despite the staff trying to be helpful.

Located in Colchester, The Essex Golf and Country Club is within a 15-minute drive of Halstead Leisure Centre and East Anglian Railway Museum.
The spa and pool was excellent and the gym fantastic. Quiet location, a little out of the way. Nice room and extra large bed. Bathroom a bit dated but acceptable. Nice bar, golf course and tennis facilities including paddle courts.
