Or, you could stay in Poppe, 30 kilometres to the west of Rheine, where you can choose from the Landhuishotel & Restaurant De Bloemenbeek and Hotel - Restaurant Het Ros van Twente. Altes Museum and Bentheim Castle are among the more popular places to explore in Poppe.

Sitting 35 kilometres south of Rheine is Muenster, a regional centre with a population of 270,000. It's home to some sweet attractions, like Historical City Hall of Muenster, the Halle Muensterland Exhibition and Congress Centre and the GOP Variety Theater. The Muenster City Museum and the Museum of Lacquer Art are a few more which are sure to offer up some envy-inducing photo ops.
