The staff lied about the cleanliness of the rooms, and when we confronted them, they tried to gaslight us by saying this was normal. What upset me the most was them claiming that when you check into a hotel, you shouldn’t expect it to be clean. Ironically, I called earlier on the day we arrived in Quebec to ask about early check-in, and they told me it wasn’t possible because they were cleaning the room yet they later made those statements. Not to mention, after discovering mold in the bathroom, I asked for a refund and the only thing they offered was to change our room, as if that would make any difference. This was our first time in Quebec City, and we had high expectations, but this hotel completely ruined the experience. I am going home with bed bug bites all over my face and arms, and I have been coughing due to the mold.

Great location, very central but definitely a budget stay. Shared bathroom is only one per floor so you have to wait your turn if someone else is in the bathroom. The bathrooms also get cleaned once a day so if you happen to be there after someone showers it’s totally soaked everywhere. Someone also shaved before I had to shower so there was hair everywhere, and it was late night so reception was already gone (typically there from 11am-10 pm or so). I recommend bringing shower shoes and perhaps exploring the bathrooms on the other floors. The temperature control is also not great. It was always blowing cold air even though I had the heat on all the way. Although they do provide a double blanket, so I was not cold when I slept. There are quite a few stairs to the rooms so don’t bring lots of heavy bags. There is a refrigerator, microwave, coffee/tea, and water to refill a bottle in the common space. I would say this is the kind of place you book for the convenient location, price, and to only spend time sleeping.

For the most part, the hotel was fine. Given the low price, I could have forgiven the grunginess of everything over the 6-foot mark (short housekeeping staff?) if it hadn't been for the last night of our stay. That night, around 10pm, an alarm started going off in the room next to ours. I knocked on their door, but got no answer. It was loud enough that I knew I wasn't going to be able to sleep, so I tried texting the number that a hotel staff member had sent me information from the day we checked in. No response. I went out to the lobby and looked for a phone number of someone who could be contacted in emergencies, but there was nothing. I couldn't find any staff anywhere. Around 12:30am, the alarm finally went off. I had to get up at 6 the next morning so I was pretty displeased. I never received follow up about my complaints.
