The hotel has character and charm, could use a bit more TLC. Staff are friendly and helpful. The location of the Luna is great, close to the Malacon and Romantica Zone, although the walk home always involves a steep hill. The breaching whales, visible from our breakfast table every day, were an added bonus. We would stay there again.
A unique property, full of charm and with lovely people running everything smoothly. Each room is so different and the views from all floors is amazing - particularly the pool area. It is a steep climb up to the hotel, which we knew, but so is everything in this charming area. Would definitely stay here again.
The experience of staying here was adequate but seriously lacking in various ways, especially given the price. There was nothing even remotely resembling a concierge service; perhaps that’s asking too much from a Mexican hotel. And the lack of coverage at the front desk was, in my mind, completely unacceptable. Most folks at the desk did not speak English! You do get old world charm here but that comes with many features that cry out for better maintenance and updating. We would not stay here again. There are many better options in Puerto Vallarta for the price.
The continental breakfast I guess met the definition of a continental breakfast but just barely. Coffee, a fruit plate and two pieces of toasted white Wonder bread with butter and jam. I am accustomed to continental breakfasts with a lot more options, including various pastries, especially in a hotel in this price range.
A serious concern of mine was egress in the event of a fire. The path to many rooms (including our own) is very circuitous (up stairs and then down stairs and then travelling to an adjacent building via a small bridge). The front desk confirmed that the only way of egressing from the building was from the single point of entry (which dangerously requires a key!) . If that path were blocked for any reason, one would be out of luck. I got a chance to look at the room beneath ours and because it was closer to the street, the windows were covered with bars. That would make me very nervous.
I loved the view from being up the mountain side. The room was large and nicely decorated. The only things I can say I was not happy with was that the pictures for our room actually showed the upstairs common area pictures making it confusing. I thought we actually had a full view of the ocean from the pictures that did not specify that certain pictures WERE NOT our room pictures. Other than that, it was beautiful! If you're walking and have knee issues, you will most likely need to have assistance due to the steep pitch and cobblestone on the roads.
Artistic flare and beautiful rooftop patio and pool. Very friendly staff. Unique rooms and surrounding Arts District.
Only complaint would be the barking dogs at night but not the fault of this property.

traumatizing
Traumatizing. The property is barely staffed & it's always difficult to find somebody to help. in and out through key pads like a self service bnb. My room reeked of intensely perfumed chemical cleaning products - I could not be in the room during the day and at night it was still so bad that I tried to find a different hotel and move. I was not able to and finally reached somebody on the hotels website and they offered to move me to another room. that room smelled of mothballs. There were lewd noises in the lounge, and then some drunk person was violently vomiting all night long and it must have been echoing throughout the hotel. I cancelled my second night and when asked for a refund for the first night they refused to be in touch with hotels.com and so I simply have to pay because they won't talk to anybody about it. horrible experience. some places just go downhill fast and this is definitely one of them. do not stay here.
The property, rooms, pool were very nice. Very clean, friendly staff. Continental breakfast was good with a very spectacular view. We met new people every morning and had some really good conversations. The only drawback is the location of the hotel as it is way way up the side of the mountain. Our taxi cab bottomed out going up the extremely steep grade. The walk to get back up to the hotel from the water was exactly 200 steps. If you don’t have any mobility issues then not a problem as the view is spectacular once you get there. Overall rating 8.5
Had an amazing time at Luna Liquida. The staff were awesome and willing to help out with whatever issue arises. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Vallarta. Low cost and close to everything I’d say.

Two nights in PV
It’s a nice hotel on top of a hill overlooking the Parroquia…so there’s a lot of UP from the malacon.
Nice continental breakfast with whale viewing in the distance, good coffee.

Very friendly staff. Housekeeping daily. Great view of ocean from pool area.
The stay was incredible, the views, rooftop pool... My only problem was the hot tub in the room was not working. It was the reason we got the room. Other than that, the stay was idyllic!! Beautiful!!
The property itself was very nice and so were Mercedes and Marcos who ran it. It is unsafe for elderly people. It requires you climb up and down many very steep stairs to get there. The roads and sidewalks are very broken up. Unfortunately I had to checkout when my husband arrived because he could not climb the stairs to get to the property. Although I changed my checkout date 3 days before, Expedia refused to refund me the difference although the owners of the hotel were fine with it.

This property is a very limited boutique hotel. The rooms are tiny (at least Sol 2 &3) and really are just one person rooms. The walk up to the property is very, very steep and good luck with the walk at night. The views from the pool area and breakfast room are very nice indeed. We wouldn't stay here again its just not a very relaxing hotel experience.
The staff is amazing. Mario, Jesus and female staff members were incredibly kind. A beautiful view of the bay while being served a continental breakfast
Margaritas at night with fresh grapes from the roof top overlooking the bay.
A perfect spot for a 180 degrees of the bay at NEW YEARS EVE

Towels are worn but rooms were clean and had nice views
The staff is excellent and friendly but this is not a safe location for people with gait issues Steep doesn’t begin to describe the location You need to be a mountain goat
A very nice stay. This is a very large house that was or is owned by a famous person. It is on a steep road and the upper rooftop terrace and pool have a great view into the sea. The road leads directly onto the malecón. Fun walking down but a little strenuous going up. Take your time and enjoy the typical neighborhood.
