The Hostal Machalilla was a nice place a block off the Malecón and it fit the need for the night

We always write what we did like and what we didn't like so much. Onto the not so much to get to the awesome! The only thing we can think of is we didn't feel as secure as we could have with the room. The windows can't be left open (screens) if you want your items as protected as possible that makes it stuffy and warmer in the room when you are gone. However, staff is around, it's a close knit community, theft would be rare and would probable come from a guest. We DID like the staff, amazing owner, under some difficult circumstances the owner really helped us out. The courtyard is pretty, hammocks to relax in. Easy to walk to the beach or grab groceries etc. We would stay there again!

Owners were very friendly and helpful. This is a family friendly hostal with no partying, drinking, loud music. Made it easy to sleep. Rooms are basic, no AC, no hot water but private bathroom in our room. Bedroom could use fresh coat of paint but everything was clean. For the price it was a great value. Without a car it is likely further from the beach than easily accessible. We had our own car so it was a short drive. We would definitely recommend this hostal.
