The Mark Spencer Hotel strikes a solid balance between comfort, location, and character. It has quirks, but most are minor in trade-off for what you gain: walkability, boutique charm, useful amenities, and a warm and helpful staff.

Shower had mold everywhere. Carpet in lobby and common areas was absolutely filthy with stains. Front desk staff (interacted with 3 different individuals) was not pleasant. Front desk called the room at 2am asking if we called 911 and then insisted we might need help. We were sleeping. When asked about the issue the next day, the desk agent said “it happens” and “yada yada yada” dismissing the issue. Bed and room were comfortable. However, housekeeping did not come one day as requested. 2/5 and that’s being generous. Especially if you can overlook being accosted by a fentanyl junkie at 10pm as soon as you walk out the hotel.
