We visited this resort a few years ago and loved it! The shows, staff, and food were amazing! This last time was a far cry from that first visit. The resort is starting to show its age. Our room air conditioner leaked and the resorts solve for this was to place towels on the floor underneath it repeatedly throughout the stay. The power and water pressure went out one of the days we stayed while we were getting ready for our dinner reservation. By the time it came back on and we got ready we had missed our reservation time. The concierge service was not accommodating and the restaurant did not help us so we had to go eat at the buffet that evening. Every time we spoke with any of the staff at the concierge desks they were not willing to help us. It was just disappointing this time around. I will not be bringing my family back to this establishment.

The Occidental restaurant's cuisine was deemed poor quality, with the buffet being cold and appearing to have been there the night before. The food was bland, unauthentic, and difficult to eat. Many patrons left feeling disappointed and tried to get something else at the buffet. The establishment's fame and allure diminished efforts in food quality. Additionally, the constant painting of buildings and mold in the premises raised concerns about our health. We’re all at home currently feeling sick. There needs to be better scheduling of what’s open to eat. We walked four hours after checking in and everything was closed.

Food was average, had to make reservations to any of the restaurants that were not buffets and was nearly impossible to get a reservation. Room set up was halfway done no hand towels, floor mat, 2 tissues in box. If you’re looking for just hanging by the pool at a good price then this is the place. If looking for more of an experience I would suggest one of the other xcaret hotels. Check in was extremely slow waited for over an hour in a line to get checked in. You have to schedule your own transportation from the airport to hotel but was easy to get a cab outside the hotel to go into town.

It was definitely not what I expected. The hotel was, I would say, at full capacity and there were no conditions to host that many people, understaffed and whoever was working there were giving there all but you can tell they were tired therefore affected guest experience. There was not food variety, literally SAME (no jk) menu the entire week I stayed. Seafood night at THE BUFFET had only seafood, making me think what options had whoever was allergic or just didn’t y prefer to eat seafood that night! My other negative experience was at the pool bar, unfortunately my stay was the week Yolanda Gutierrez worked, she made me rethink if I wanted a drink just to avoid dealing with her bad attitude. On the other hand ROSITA provided us with the best customer experience of our stay! She is AMAZING, we need more Rosita’s…also limited activities, it was boring! Overall I had fun because of my group but every little thing was adding up to a no so pleasant experience. Not coming back to this hotel!

Make sure to go to the Paco's Tacos area for dinner at least one time in your visit (you don't need a reservation for this one). They also have great pizza in this one. We also enjoyed a lot Los Olivos and El Pescador restaurants. The Steakhouse... not too much.
