The natural surroundings of this resort are truly beautiful, but unfortunately the experience is ruined by the staff. They are unprofessional, rude, and unhelpful. Nobody answers the phone when you call, and there is no greeting or sense of hospitality from the moment you arrive. For an all-inclusive resort, the service is far below expectations. It’s a shame such a beautiful location is managed so poorly—hopefully a reputable hotel chain takes over one day and trains the staff properly to match the quality of the setting.

The property itself is beautiful but the beach area was like a sess-pool. So we swam in the pool most of the time Which we can do at home. The food was terrible almost in edible at times. And be prepared to walk although the resort is beautiful and you get to see lots of wildlife it takes about 20 minutes to walk from the lobby to the beach. There is a little golf cart that drives around every 10 minutes supposedly but often times it did not feel like it came around very often so plan on doing lots of walking. The room itself was beautiful and big for the price we paid to stay there. I would say we got what we paid for, but I will certainly never be back. We paid 550 per person all inclusive from dallas.

Overall, my stay at the Occidental was what I expected in terms of amenities, cleanliness, and service. However, one major drawback significantly impacted my experience: the constant loud music. From early in the morning, the beach area blasted salsa music at full volume. Later in the day, the speakers and activities moved to the main pool. Unfortunately, my room was directly across from the pool. Even though my balcony faced the opposite direction, the pounding music and microphones with staff shouting commands carried into my room all day. I came on this trip to relax, but the noise level made it very difficult to unwind. I wish one of the reviews I read beforehand had mentioned this, as it would have helped set expectations. For travelers who enjoy a lively party atmosphere, this hotel might be perfect. But for those seeking peace, quiet, and relaxation, it may not be the best choice.

The food and entertainment were not the best, but the people that work there made everything better. Very old and needs updating in the rooms. Coffee shop should be included in the all inclusive in my opinion. Beautiful, but lacks in entertainment and good food in the buffets.

The Hotel was beautiful and clean. Was only able to go to one restaurant because you needed reservations and every time we went to reserve it was full. Also please take pants, they are required at restaurants, they won't let you in if you are wearing shorts. The buffet was very small, with not a lot of options, food was the same every night. The staff was very nice, and never had an issue, but for this expensive hotel, they need better food.
