The resort itself is beautiful. There’s plenty to do around the property and with the Xcaret park a three minute walk away, it is very convenient if you want to add fun activities. There are so many photo opportunities. The staff was so kind and helpful. Every night the buffet staff would explain meal options and was ready to help if we wanted to try fun new drinks. Although the rooms are a bit outdated, they provided what we needed for our week stay. We would definitely stay again and even bring our families here!

The property was beautiful. The pools and lagoon were wonderful. The staff were friendly and courteous. My family loved it, we would book this property again in an instant. The dining options were varied and good quality. The a-la-carte restaurants were very good, but difficult to get a reservation to. The beach club buffet was by far our favorite. Carlos, our waiter was wonderful. It was a challenge to get a cup of coffee before 7am, which was a little mystifying. The property is huge and I could imagine that someone with mobility issues might find it challenging. My wife and I walked 8 to 10 miles a day, by choice. The shuttle service ran every 10 minutes, but I rarely waited for it. We enjoyed the Park Xcaret entrances from the hotel and used them every day. We stayed a total of 8 days and it wasn't enough.

Absolute lovely stay. We had so much fun at the Occidental at Xcaret. The staff was very respectful, the hotel was beautiful, and the amenities were very fun. On top of that, our beds were made and the floors were cleaned every day. We will be going again!

- Check in wasn’t really an experience, they make you figure things out on your own. - Staff were very rude especially at the bars. - AC never cooled off the room - Lost power 1 of 5 days there - Front desk was very inconvenient. Made it a nightmare to check out and getting our luggage moved. - Somebody is trying to sell you something all the time. - Buffet food was one of the worst experiences, flavor as well as presentation. - Buffet was very unsanitary, specifically how food (meats) were being handled. - NO RESERVATIONS AVAILABLE TO ANY RESTAURANT FOR TWO DAYS. We only got to eat at one restaurant once, nightmare. Plus all restaurants required pants even though the experience wasn’t pants (dress up) experience worthy. Not to mention, 90 degree weather with extremely high humidity.

We LOVED the resort. The pools were awesome food beverages all inclusive was pretty good. The stuff was amazing. The rooms could’ve been a little better. Better beds and bathrooms.

Property is beautiful and the grounds are well maintained. The food was terrible. The ala cart was mediocre at best. The air conditioning was struggling and the room was warm to hot most of the week. The resort lost power a couple id times. This resort is marketed as a 4 star resort. In my opinion it may have been a 4 star in the past but my experience was closer to a 2. Would not recommend.
