Pen-y-Ghent makes up one the Yorkshire 3 peaks which, if you accept the challenge have to complete all 3 peaks and 24 miles within 12 hours. Most people start with this one (the smallest of the 3 ) from the nearby village of Horton-in-Ribblesdale. I’ve completed the challenge many years ago in my youth and this time we just tackled this one on a circular 6 mile walk. We took the 3 peaks ascent route which is steep in places and involves a scramble up some rocks near the end but the views (when clear) are stunning. There are lots of walks of varying lengths around the Yorkshire Dales, a definite walkers paradise. Just make sure you are prepared for all weathers, by the time we descended you couldn’t see the summit for cloud.

The final hill of Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge, a hike of around 27-30 miles including ascent of three mountains. Beautiful scenery all around, but quite challenging.

Seriosuly everything was absolutely perfect! The host Bridget and her sister are amazing and make you feel most welcome. Pods are extremely clean and the hot tubs... the best I have ever experienced. You must stay here when visitingthe Dales x

Excellent pod
We had a great 2 night stay over Christmas. The pod is clean, cosy and warm and has everything you need for a short stay. The hot tub was amazing and the host was welcoming and helpful.
