If you're headed to Ozu, keep this in mind — hotel options in the vicinity are as scant as the hair on your great uncle Terry's head!

But don't work yourself into a tizzy just yet. Seiyo is approximately 15 kilometres away and offers some brilliant accommodations, such as the Hotel Clement Uwajima and Uwajima Oriental Hotel.

It's well known that Aussies are pretty relaxed, so consider chilling out a little longer and going to the Lake Ishitegawa Dam and the Sairin-ji Temple in Matsuyama, 45 kilometres to the northeast of Ozu. If you'd like to stay in Matsuyama, look into the rates at the Okudogo Ichiyunomori and Hotel Mielparque Matsuyama. 85 kilometres to the east of Ozu you'll find Kochi, which is home to The Crown Palais New Hankyu Kochi and Nishitetsu Inn Kochi Harimayabashi. The Chikurinji Temple and the Zenrakuji Temple are popular sites to check out when you're in Kochi.

Staff was so very kind and helpful, even though we did not speak each other's language. The location was very convenient to the JR train station and I appreciated that it was a little removed from the busy streets, and I sensed that the hotel is about to embark on some renovations. I would return again because of the kind and patient desk staff.
