My husband & I recently stayed 3 nights at the Aqua Blu Hotel, and it was just ok. It looks like they have made some upgrades but there is still more to go. The pillows were horrible so we bought our own. The air conditioner felt like just the just the fan was blowing at times vs air conditioning, and the dials did not work. The pool was closed for repairs. We missed the bar/restaurant that used to be on the deck.

Pool was closed due to mechanical issues but there was no notification until we got to the hotel. I would have chosen to spend a little bit more money with a pool that was operational. I travel with small children and they were very disappointed as was I.

This is a somewhat run down property, but in an excellent location. It is worn and in need of a renovation. But lots of potential. Room: sink was new/very clean, shower was clean, carpets were questionable, walls were dirty. Bed was fine. TV didn't work. I appreciated how the room had a mini fridge. Room was also fairly spacious. Location is perfect. Walkable to beach and lots of dining. Free on site parking. Pool was under construction so not usable. Hopefully will be ready next time!

Hot Tub and pool and deck closed. Seems intentional and should not be advertised. Specifically wanted a place with pool for little kids. Beach was awesome so less of an impact. Front desk workers had to deal with lots of complaints. Some people who booked directly were promised some refund. Staff seems very hard working so owners need to deliver on what is advertised. Better to book directly.

Nice play to stay near the water. Conveniently located near beach, shops and restaurants. Could use more work to make it what it once was…a hot spot/side patio with music, food & drinks. They also had a really nice restaurant, free breakfast and ballroom, but haven’t seen either in years.

We booked last year and a pool was the deciding factor being we are vacationing with our grandkids. When arriving told no pool/hot tub, they’re working on it and we asked what an amenities discount will be for our stay. We were told the manager will contact us to discuss, never heard from them so at checkout this morning we asked again and a manager just called me. Manager said being I went through Expedia I had to make the request through your company. Please advise what our discount will be as soon as possible. Manager sounded like a discount was achievable.

The location of this property is its best feature! The staff were friendly, but not particularly helpful. The parking lot is tight! The pool was not working, which I saw was updated on the website, but no notification was given via email etc and I had booked months ago, so was not aware. The layout is very confusing, no helpful directions or map within the building or in the rooms for where to find things, or the best way to navigate how it is laid out. Signs within the building and elevator are outdated which adds to the confusion. For example it says they have a restaurant, which they don’t, I inquired at the desk as to where it was and she said to go to the one behind their establishment, which is a separate business that has nothing to do with the hotel. There is a back entrance which claims you need a hotel key to open the inside door, but we found it was almost always propped open - so anyone could enter - our room was on that same floor so that did not feel safe. Air conditioner in room worked well so that was nice, fan in bathroom was loud and did not work well, did not like the sink/vanity - awkward shape and no real counter-space. The lights within the room are awful to figure out how to work - not to mention if you leaned back on the headboard in our room, the lights went out, comical, but very annoying! Bedding and pillows were not the greatest, but the bed was fairly comfortable.

Our room was surprisingly clean and comfortable considering the entire hotel is falling apart around you. The rooftop deck is warped. Boards are lifted..it felt very unsafe. The cupula has an entire side hanging off with boards ready to fall on someone on the deck. It smelled very musty as soon as you walked in and the receptionist needs some serious hospitality training. I did however, have a phone conversation one evening with someone trying to find our reservation who was very helpful and kind The location is great..the hotel needs someone to invest some big bucks to make it great. Im sure it had been at some point ..but it clearly has been in a state of disrepair for a very long time

Worst hotel I've been to in years

Awful! Do not go! I booked a king bed room, ocean facing, with a balcony. Where do I begin? The room was decent size and was ocean facing, but the balcony? Not even room for a chair. My shower is bigger than this "balcony." The room also had a "wet bar" which was a particle board cabinet with a sink that leaked underneath, a door under the sink that wouldn't stay closed, and a small fridge haning out of the cabinet as it didn't fit. We had a coffee pot with three decaf K-cups for two people for two days. The "pool" had murky green water, maybe fit for wildlife, and the hot tub - which was "under maintenance" when I booked this place a month ago - was still not fixed. That had brown murky water in it. Also to note, the beach is a bit of a walk down the street and you have to pay to use it every day ($12 per person). The only good things I have to say is that the near by restaurants were awesome (Coast Guard House and Celeste). At $500 per night, I exected a lot better.

Overall, not bad for a hotel that I believe was rated 3 stars. It was very clean, and we had a great view of the beach on our balcony. My only complaints were that the hot tub didn't appear to be working. Also, I felt like it was a bit pricey, but I guess location is everything. The actual area is gorgeous and so fun to explore. Also, the staff was super friendly at the front desk.
