Holidays in Napuka

When you see totally gorgeous vistas plastered all over the telly, it's easy to be jelly. So why not spoil yourself with a trip to Napuka and experience the picture-postcard beaches, sandy beaches and coral reefs of Tuamotu Archipelago?

Shore fishing is a fantastic way to relax after a few lively days of sightseeing. If you feel like you could do with more time in the open air, why not arrange to go beach combing as well?

From snorkeling to swimming, there's no shortage of ways to get out on the water in Tuamotu Archipelago. Just don't forget your sunscreen!

If you'd love to discover more about this region's past, pay a visit to the nearby traditional villages. Dig out your map, do a little research and select a favourite.

Tease your taste buds and fill your Instagram with drool-worthy pics by tasting some of the area's richest food and drink offerings. Just don't forget to hashtag 'yum'!

If you're browsing a menu, there's a good chance you'll see dishes featuring coconut or banana. They're just some ingredients which are typically used in the cooking here.

When Napuka locals talk about food, you might hear himaa (earth oven feast) or steak in red wine sauce mentioned once or twice. These much-loved dishes form part of the area's identity and should be on any foodie's must-eat list.

'Stressed' spelled backwards is 'desserts', and we don't think that's a coincidence. There's no more delightful way to let your concerns melt away than with firifiri (figure eight doughnuts), a sweet treat often found on dining tables here.

Are you ready for a drink? Throw back a glass or two of Tabu Tiki Vodka Beer, a brew that needs to be on your bucket (or pint) list.

Raise a glass of a local speciality such as Vin de Tahiti Blanc Moelleux or Vin de Tahiti Rosé Nacarat. Expert wine connoisseur or not, there's nothing like a flavoursome drop.

Before you say your final "Au revoir / À bientôt" to Napuka, check your pockets for any stray change that you can spend on some last-minute keepsakes.

Security checkpoints, long lines and delayed flights. Airports are often exhausting. Make things a little easier and give yourself extra time to find Fangatau Airport (FGU). Located 190 kilometres to the south, it's the nearest terminal.
