Check out the Kinokuniya Jinpachi and Ryokan Kuboji. They're not far from all the downtown action, so hit the snooze button and enjoy some lazy mornings!

If you're happy crashing 12 kilometres outside of central Nakato, consider the suburb of Yoshino. It has 4 places to stay, including the Sakoya -Yoshino- and Chikurinin Gunpoen.

Wakayama is situated 65 kilometres from Nakato and has a population of 350,000. When you're in the area, you'd be crazy if you didn't explore Kamayama Shrine, Hinokuma Shrine and Kunikakasu Shrine and Hanayama Onsen. If you end up hanging out for a while, keep the good times rolling with a visit to the Porto Europa and Harunomiyaebisu Shrine. Wakayama offers accommodations that should suit everyone, such as the Wakayama Marina City Hotel and Hotel Granvia Wakayama.

Cannot say enough good things about this monastery. The food was top notch. So healthy and delicious. Our best meals in Japan (vegan food that will amaze you- and we are not even vegan)! The staff is so kind and welcoming. Do not miss the chanting ceremony in the morning. Loved the room with its traditional Japanese experience and garden view. Perfect location across the street from the temple complex. Don’t miss walking around it at night. Breathtakingly beautiful.
