Ruins and castles are a few sights that should be on your cannot-miss list. If gorgeous landscapes are more your thing, take time out in the region's beaches, coastal plains and mountains. Travellers with an appetite for adventure can also fill their days with a little snowboarding in this corner of Japan.

Everyone knows Aussies just love to relax, so consider hanging round a little longer and going to the Hyogo Prefectural Museum of History and the Enmeiji Temple in Himeji, 55 kilometres to the southeast of Nagi. Or, you could stay in Shinonsen, 55 kilometres to the northeast of Nagi, where you can choose from the Yukai Resort Yumura Onsen Miyoshiya and Asanoya. Okayama is located 60 kilometres from Nagi and has a population of 650,000. When you're there, you'd be mad if you didn't stop by Parade Hill Park, the Busshin-ji Temple and Ujo Park.
