The well-known city of Montpelier is situated within reach of Moriah. You can find this bustling centre 80 kilometres to the east.

Found 20 kilometres to the south, Ticonderoga is certainly worth a visit. Many people come here to experience Fort Ticonderoga.

Make sure you bring a picnic hamper and a blanket for a relaxing lunch by the water at North Beach or Veterans Memorial Park Beach.

Feel like some time out in Mother Nature? Grab your car keys and hightail it to Whiteface Mountain, 45 kilometres away from Moriah. Alternatively, enjoy some fresh air at Mirror Lake, 45 kilometres away.

Sports fanatics don't need to worry about being left out in the cold during their stay. Olympic Sports Complex is 35 kilometres away in Lake Placid and the perfect place to get your sporting fill. Make sure you check the event schedule to see what's on.

Leave a cloud of white powder behind you as you rocket down the slopes at Killington Resort. Powder hounds will also want to load up the car and head to Okemo Mountain Resort.

Remember to head to other nearby sights, such as the Chimney Point State Historic Site and the Crown Point State Historic Site. You will find them 7 kilometres east in Port Henry. Not ready to return the rental car just yet? Elk Lake and Mount Marcy are in North Hudson, 20 kilometres to the west of Moriah.

Spend a day exploring the Neshobe River Winery, the Neshobe Golf Club and the Brandon Museum. These sights are all not too far from the middle of Brandon, 45 kilometres to the southeast. Have more time on your hands? Otter Valley Winery and Stephen A Douglas Birthplace should also feature on your travel plan.

Making it to your plane on time can sometimes be an ordeal. However, you should be right if you're well prepared. The closest terminal, Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport (YUL), is 160 kilometres to the north.
