The staff were wonderful, great amenities, clean room, & great food/drinks! The biggest downfall was that we didn’t get the garden view booked, only the entrance lobby of the RIU MoBay! That was disappointing as we couldn’t enjoy our balcony due to the noise from the loading/maintenance area or whatever.
While room service is 24/7, ordering through their app isn’t beneficial. I placed an order & almost 2 hours later it still showed as pending. Housekeeping is great, but slow. As with room service, requested service through the app for housekeeping, as advised during check-in, only to not receive the items I requested. When I called the front desk, I was told to submit the request with them & they would forward it to housekeeping. In addition, our room did not have washcloths, so I had to request them. For some reason or another, when the room was serviced/cleaned, they would be removed - as they should, but not replaced. This led to us having to submit another request for items.
The food is great, but my husband felt the food at MoBay was better. While you can visit & enjoy the other properties, you can only dine at their buffets. Not a lot of entertainment at the Palace, but you can see some at the other properties.
When it comes to aesthetics, the vibe of RIU palace is slow & quiet. I chose the location for that reason, but it was too slow & quiet. We thought it was due to the hurricane. The overall look & feel was better at MoBay & we plan to book there next time.
