The workers I loved but the food was horrible!!! Then they are renovating and it was very confusing navigating getting to my room which was not impressed with, then came when we booked for a resturant they tend to cater to the other race but their own race just didn’t really try when we dined in to show us the drink menu just told us they only had 2 wines yet my Caucasian friend she gave him the wine menu! Let’s do better!

This was by far one of the worst places I’ve ever stayed! The hotel itself is old and mold infected. The elevator in building 2 wasn’t working had to use the mold infested stairs. The pool closes at 6pm during summer hours. The bars don’t open until 9am, there’s only 1 pool for the entire resort. There wasn’t much entertainment during the day. The buffet is completely open birds were flying in and eating off the food. All the liquor is bottom self. You have to be a time share member to get a decent liquor. The restaurant wouldn’t let you try more than 1 meal even though it was supposed to be all-inclusive. The quality of the rooms are so poor, floors are so dirty. Mold around shower. Hallways are dirty the entire property needs to be shut down! Absolutely the worst place I’ve ever stayed. All together it’s ran down! Staff was amazing and very accommodating to try and make it a pleasant stay but if I could give this place a -10 I would.

Nice resort. Going through renovations, so many of the rooms and resort properties were outdated. The food was just okay from a quality standpoint, but there were lots of choices on the buffet. Entertainment needed to engage the guests more and build more excitement. Overall, the resort is pleasant and the beach views are beautiful. The grounds are well kept and the staff was helpful and friendly. Looking forward to returning when the renovations are complete.

The staff at Catalonia were not welcoming at all, the food service host and supervisor were very rude at The Terrace restaurant and it seemed as if everyone had an attitude when you would inquire about something. The rooms were not updated as shown in the picture, the buffet was horrible and had fruit flies all over the fruit, wasn't too many options for people that don't eat pork such as myself. The bathroom in our room was very old, dirty and had to wear slides in the shower because of the condition, water went out on us as we were taking a shower multiple times and some guest we spoke with had no water the entire time. Our experience was horrible the only fun we had was off resort and everyone off resort was kind and friendly. I travel for experience, cleanliness, good food and great customer service and I received None of the above. If I do return to Montego Bay it will not be to the Catalonia and I most certainly would not recommend to anyone else. Upon complaining to the supervisor I never even received an apology for the rude treatment we received, no free services or anything. Never again.

I loved this hotel. I cant wait to see it once all the renovations are done. Its very warm an welcoming. The cats was a added plus they are so friendly. The beach is beautiful an kid friendly the pool as well. The food was ok the service was wonderful from the bartenders to house keeping everything was great. I will definitely be returning. My suggestions would be have more activities for the kids keep pool open at least to dusk instead of 6pm an more kid snacks like cupcakes popcorn chips. The hip strip is a $30 taxi ride which to me is a lil too much for a 10 min ride but over all 10/10 see u guys in 6 months

The fur host made this stay even more relaxing❤️ Cat friendly is always a good thing landscaping was on point you would never know cats was there. But they definitely are the main attraction

This property is under construction only one working elevator, wifi doesn’t works properly in the rooms , no functional AC in room. My child got sick from eating food at the buffet , i was referred to a private hospital and I was a jj charged ridiculous amount of money to aeee a doctor . My experience was overall not great.

Staff were friendly and very professional. Apart from some local dishes, food quality was dismal. Many times, meals were not thoroughly cooked. The birds that ate with us in the buffet line lived the corn bread... They are it right out of the cake tree. The cafeteria is out door dining and not air-conditioned so... If it's hot, you will have a 🔥 dining experience. Staff were wonderful and professional.

This was my 4th time going to Jamaica and I must say that this was the worse experience that I have had. My family and I have previously stayed at Iberostar Rose Hall and Ocean Coral Springs but I decided to stay at Catalonia for a different vibe and it be affordable for me as a single parent. Everything was fine when we arrived. The rooms are outdated but it had what as needed. Dinner at the buffet was just okay but my son really enjoyed the pizza however it did take us 20 minutes for our beverage order to be taken. The next day we woke up and went the breakfast. Sidebar: if you do not want to get waken up by the housekeeper banging at the door around 10ish about cleaning your room then make sure you put the “do not disturb” on your door. Back to breakfast, the buffet made omelettes which was a good look however the ENTIRE resort did not have any ice AT ALL on the hottest day of our vacation (not to mention it was my daughter’s sweet 16 and the reason for our trip). Arrived at the towel hut to get a towel around 12pm and they were no towels and told me to come back in a half hour. I came back at 1 and still no towels. So I left and came back again still none until 3pm. I couldn’t believe it. I will say the staff at the front and pool bar/food (especially the woman at the jerk spot and the man that works the grill at night) were super nice. All in all I always try to look at the positive outlook for everything however it was really hard for this resort. Hope this helps.

On 7.19.25, there was no water. I called the front desk and was told the engineer was evaluating the issue. I mentioned my daughter has severe eczema and inquired how long this would be a problem, I was told, "I don't know." I suggested they ask the manager, but I was put on hold then transferred to guest services. I went to the front desk and spoke with the MOD Denton, who said he didn't know my room was without water. Then another hotel guest approached the front desk and reported they were without water, the staff was taken aback. Then Bergili (incorrect spelling) claimed there was no water in all of Montego Bay, but he later acknowledged he lacked evidence to support his assertion. Winsome, the General Manager, intervened and said the water tank only needed to be switched. Overall, bathroom in my room was not the cleanest (mold in tile) and the hotel is outdated; customer service is poor.

Though this resort is in transition at rhis time, the staff did everything possible to make my stay pleasant. The food was delicious as always. Got to see the new room model and the place will be very nice once finished.

Disliked: The bathroom was a major disappointment. It had an outdated appearance and a persistent musty odor. Additionally, there was visible dirt and mold around the tub. Also, I found the food options to be repetitive. The last time I visited the property was 15 years ago, and before that, it was once a year for 4 years. After the renovations are completed, I will revisit.

I loved the warm staff and great service. The food was also excellent. The shower curtain was a bit short which caused some water to wet the bathroom floor. The wifi was a bit poor as well but overall I would recommend this hotel

I enjoyed my stay at Catalonia, the food options were good, I enjoyed the day-to-day activities that were able to be accessed like kayaking and karaoke. I had mixed reviews from the staff, some staff members were very nice and respectful, and then there were some that did not provide the customer service that I hoped to receive while visiting. Catalonia was a decent first experience in Jamaica but I probably wouldn’t choose to stay again due to encountering things like the elevator not working, the limited availability of restaurant reservations for the different dining options, and also how the bars restrict basic drink options (Jack Daniels, Malibu etc.) for “privileged guests“ despite purchasing the all-inclusive package.
