Overall, the hotel’s facilities and accommodations were satisfactory; however, the front desk experience and deposit policy were deeply disappointing.
The hotel enforces a refundable deposit of $100–$150 for every reservation, which may take up to 15 days to be returned after checkout. This policy is displayed only on a printed, laminated notice at the front desk and is not disclosed anywhere online during the booking process.
When I raised concerns about the undisclosed deposit requirement, the front desk staff member was unprofessional and offered no alternative solutions. His exact words were: “Can you read, sir? Read the policy right there. I can’t give you a room if you don’t pay the deposit. You don’t have a credit card? You don’t have cash? Then call and cancel the reservation because you booked with a third party (Expedia).”
Due to this interaction, I had no option but to attempt to contact Expedia and arrange alternative lodging at nearly 8:00 p.m. Although the staff member provided a phone number to cancel the reservation, it was not the correct Expedia contact number.
I have booked numerous stays through Expedia and have never experienced this level of rudeness, frustration, or lack of professionalism at a hotel.
