Don't accept the room overlooking the hotel front

Having stayed at the hotel before I knew what to expect however this time it was disappointing. We had an early flight to catch and had to be up for 03.30. The room we were allocated 259 was directly over the front door to the hotel where the hotel shuttle buses picked up and dropped off. As the room was very hot with no air conditioning I had to open the window and so was constantly disturbed by the mini bus doors slamming shut and people stood outside the hotel either smoking or waiting for lifts and talking loudly. I have never had this problem before so have learnt a valuable lesson about asking for a quiet room.

We were very happy with the meals we took: dinner and breakfast. The dining room staff were helpful. The accommodation was good with two exceptions. There was no information about how to use the heating, which we would have liked to use in the late evening. The soap dispensers in the bathroom were in unsuitable places. The shampoo/conditioner could not be reached from the bath and the soap dispenser was inconvenient for the wash basin. If a mistake had been made, it suggests a lack of care.

Room was clean enough but tired. Had dinner in the Aviator bar and honestly the food was edible but poor, small portions and very expensive. We would not eat there again. Hotel location is great for access to the terminals as long as you register for the hotel shuttle service. Only discovered that we had to register at reception for this by accident. Staff very friendly and helpful.

Great airport hotel

I booked the Clayton as a treat as I had an early flight. It’s really handy for the airport - there’s a shuttle bus that can take you to / pick you up from all three terminals as well as the train station. Easy to book. Apparently T1 is only five minutes walk but as I had to get to the airport at 5am, it felt safer to get the bus. The room was clean, if a little tired in places. Nice shower. The bed was really comfortable and had a good nights sleep. The restaurant was busy but service was still quick and really friendly. There’s also a little self service shop in the reception area for drinks/snacks for your room. Overall a great stay and recommend for easy access to the airport.

Clayton stay May 2025

We arrived late at night and was picked up promtly by the shuttle service from terminal 2 after contacting reception to pick us up. Reception had our room keys ready for us on our Arrival at the hotel. The room was a Double twin room it was comfortable clean and tidy We had pre ordered breakfast which was very good with plenty of choice. We were also given a discretionary extra hour on our check out time for free due to our late arrival. We also paid 20 pounds for two extra hours so we could have our room till 14.00 hours To save hanging around the airport for hours .
