It lies 45 kilometres to the north of Amsterdam, the national capital of Netherlands.

Sitting 90 kilometres to the southwest, Scheveningen Beach is a fabulous spot to spend an afternoon enjoying the sights and smells of the ocean. Zandvoort Beach also offers visitors some gorgeous scenery. You'll find it 60 kilometres to the southwest.

Escape on a journey to some nearby natural sights. 30 kilometres out of Medemblik, Noordhollands Duinreservaat is all yours to discover. Sloterpark and Sloterplas, 45 kilometres away, is another lovely place to kick your heels up.

Don't forget to visit the Stoommachine Museum to reflect and fully embrace the regional culture.

The Vlietlanden Golfbaan is a favorite spot for local golf enthusiasts. Join the fun with a couple of rounds before treating yourself to a refreshing drink at the 19th hole.

Speelgoed Museum de Kijkdoos and the Museum of the 20th Century are quite close to the centre of Oostwoud, 3 kilometres to the southwest. Eager for more? Wervershoof, 4 kilometres to the southeast of Medemblik, boasts Westerkerk and Zuiderkerk.

Tourists often make the trip to Bovenkarspel. This destination is 11 kilometres to the southeast and not far from Drommedaris, the Binnenmuseum and the Buitenmuseum. If you're planning to stay a while, remember to visit the Flessenscheepjesmuseum and Enkhuizen Stadhuis.

To really experience a place is to try its food and drink, so prepare to munch, crunch, sip and slurp your way through West Friesland. The only thing you need to bring with you is a decent appetite!
