Book Mátrafüred hotels

This is one of the most beautiful, culturally authentic boutique hotels in which I have ever stayed. Vast rooms with authentic Hungarian decor. Out room geatured carved wood, a sitting area, a private walled outside area, an adjacent excellent restaurant, a good and copious breakfast. Quiet. A short walk to an atea of little restaurants and wine bars. The Hotel’s outdoor restaurant tables are under a vast, overhead grape arbor. Take the two-hour train ride to Eger from Budapest, FREE if you are over 65, as is all public transport in Hungary. Train was modern and clean. The whole country is underrated, in my view.

The staff were all very friendly and helpful. I loved the small intimate feel of the hotel itself. The outdoor spaces were nice and comfortable with different options to choose from. We had a great fresh breakfast every morning to start our day. We would definitely stay again.

The hotel is great. The spa is very nice. The inly problem is that most of the elevators were out of order during our stay.

Pros: The property is close to the centre of Màtrafüred, where the restaurants are, and it is also close to the hiking trails. It has a pool (though it is a bit dated) a kitchen and dining area for guests to use, as well as a sauna and a nice back garden in the woods. Staff were extremely helpful and accommodating and the room was clean. Cons: The property is right next to the main road, so if you have a room that faces that side, it is very noisy. I could hear the traffic even through my earplugs. It was very umpleasant as i was expecting a nice peaceful stay in Màtra. The rooms have soundproofed doors, but the walls are very thin. I could even hear my neighbours talking! My (double) room had a tiny bathroom, i don't think a larger person would have been able to move around in it or even sit on the toilet properly. The reception was not always manned, so guests had to call to get someone over to check them in, open the pool, etc etc.
