Hey, we get it! You're sick to death of work and you need a break, right? So why not take your annual leave and suss out the magnificent rural landscapes, forests, rivers and streams of Alsace-Lorraine. Just base yourself in Maron and take it from there.

You'll find one of France's greatest cities a mere day trip from Maron. Saarbruecken is 95 kilometres to the northeast.

Sitting just 7 kilometres to the northeast, Villers-les-Nancy is home to a variety of terrific sights. Place Stanislas and the Musee des Beaux-arts are popular with travellers. Don't forget about the Musee de l'Ecole de Nancy either!

You don't need to be stuck inside a car all day to soak up some nature. Just 30 kilometres out of Maron, Office of Tourism is a wonderful place to enjoy some fresh air. More peaceful surrounds await at Nancy Tourism Office, 12 kilometres away.

Get some exercise with a walk around the Jardin Botanique du Montet or the Botanical Garden of Montet. If you're feeling a bit hungry, they're two nice spots to unfurl a rug and indulge in a picnic lunch.

Whether you're looking to perfect your turns or just get back to base in one piece, Alsace-Lorraine has the slopes you're after. You can head to either La Bresse Brabant Ski Area or La Bresse Lispach Ski Area.

Venture outwards and find out what's going on in Chaligny, 3 kilometres to the southeast. Many visitors come here for Turtle Bay and Villa Majorelle. Alternatively, Villey-le-Sec is 6 kilometres to the northwest of Maron. Head to this destination for convenient access to the Museum of Art and History and Saint-Etienne Cathedral.

Want to go and see Nancy Hotel de Ville, the Henri Poincare University and Nancy Cathedral? They're all not far from Vandoeuvre Les Nancy, 9 kilometres to the east. Parc de la Pepiniere and the Musee Aquarium de Nancy are also conveniently close and should be included in your itinerary.
