If you are visiting Madrid for the first time (as we were) you will not want to stay anywhere else! In fact, if you are visiting for the 1000th time, you will probably not want to stay anywhere else :) Hotel Opera is aptly named as its across the street from THE Madrid Opera, and adjacent to the Royal Palace. As such, you will be hard pressed to find a location more suitable for walking to some of the most impressive shopping, tourism, dining, and sight seeing the city has to offer! My mom and I ate at THE Mercado 4 times in our four day stay. The hotel itself is very modern and the staff is always available and always professional, welcoming, and kind. The room itself was (for me) very high-tech, and even had motorized shades that you could lower to darken the room further. We ventured out to Toledo one day, and the hotel is helpful there as well in that it's very accessible for taxi and uber, but is near car rental (sixt) too! If you want to shop, eat, sight see, or just sleep/rest (and not kill your budget), rest assured that Hotel Opera covers it all!

I booked this hotel based on their advertised pictures and overall rating on hotels.com ! It was such a surprise to my whole family when i walked in to a motel like environment , outdated hallways that resembles scary movies and mold in their bathroom and showers ! Staff was friendly and i dont have anything bad to say about them !

We picked this property due to its location close to the Palace. Not sure why it has 4 stars. Our door had tape inside the lock and could not lock until I took it out. Staff wasn’t friendly when I address the issue. The bath tube jacuzzi had broken pieces. Front reception not as friendly or helpful as other stays we stayed while in Spain. Hotel is old and it renovated. Breakfast food was ok and not great.

dont stay in 901 (or any of the *01 rms)

the hotel location was excellent but i will warn anyone booking avoid rm 901! right next door to both the elevator shaft and the gym... which is unlocked even though they say access is after 10am... one of the roughest nights ive had travelling in years...
