Excellent! You've had your leave signed off. Now all you've gotta do is say see ya to the treadmill of office life and book a ticket to Lo!

You can find one the best cities in Thailand just a couple of hours from Lo. Chiang Mai Province is 140 kilometres to the southwest.

Mae Puem National Park, 25 kilometres away, is the perfect place to go if you want some fresh air and a quiet afternoon. It's well worth the drive.

How about visiting 100 Years Chiang Kham Health Garden and the Wat Nantaram? These excellent sights are quite close to the middle of Chiang Kham, just 25 kilometres east. Use this as a base for a little while and do some exploring!

Go on a day trip and visit some attractions in Phayao. This place is 40 kilometres to the southwest and close to Health Garden Park, the Wat Sri Khom Kham Temple and the Wat Phra That Jom Thong. That said, you shouldn't miss the Wat Li and the Pho Khun Ngam Mueang Memorial either.

There is no better way to get to know a place than to literally sink your teeth into it! You're invited to explore the culture, history and personality of Phayao by indulging in some of its finest food and drink.

Once you grab a seat and look over a menu at a café or restaurant, you'll notice that vietnamese coriander and culantro are a few ingredients commonly used in the local cuisine.

Looking for a traditional Lo eating experience? There are some signature dishes to watch out for, such as khao kan chin (steamed pork blood and rice) and khanom chin nam ngiao (rice with pork blood sauce).

Learning to pronounce even just a few expressions in the local tongue will make travelling through the Phayao region that little bit smoother. 'Pôot cháa long nòi' translates to 'please speak more slowly'. 'Kun maa jàak tee năi?' ('where are you from?') is another one you may need.
