Stayed two nights, Feb 26.
The good bits: The best bit about the hotel (and restaurant), without any doubt, is the staff. Hayley (reception) is fantastic. Really welcoming, friendly and super helpful with anything we needed. Exactly what you want for a small hotel. The room was well cleaned on arrival and there as always easy car parking. Bed was clean and comfortable with two pillows each. We needed an iron and ironing board and Haley found one immediately for us. Food in the restaurant was affordable and quality OK. Service times seemed about right too.
The not so good bits: The reception area is in real need of refurbishment with dirty paintwork and worn out carpet. Not a great first impression. The rooms also had a number of maintenance issues. Our bathroom ceiling badly needed re plastering and the sealants round the bath need to be replaced too (going black in places). The TV only received about a quarter of channels with a 'poor signal' error on others (apparently an engineer was due to attend a few days after we departed). The bathroom taps were very difficult to turn completely off (new washers / inserts needed here). The restaurant is very much a 'family' place so expect lots of screaming children running around.
Conclusion: An affordable, and, on the whole, decent place to stay. It's just a shame that the ownership hasn't kept up the maintenance of the place as the poor decor and maintenance issues do not reflect the excellent service provided by the staff.
