Holidays in Lete

When chucking a sickie becomes way too simple, it's time to take a breather from the nine-to-five and say hello to Lete!

If you journey 190 kilometres of Lete, you'll find yourself in the prominent city of Kathmandu.

It's no secret that spending time outside can make you feel happier and healthier. In light of that, why don't you venture 30 kilometres out of Lete to Gupteshwor Mahadev Cave? Seti River Gorge, 30 kilometres away, is another excellent option.

The close-by destinations of Dhaulagiri Zone and Jomsom are worth having a look at. They're located 11 kilometres west and 20 kilometres northeast away, respectively. Get in a car and find out what they're all about!

The Barahi Temple, the World Peace Stupa and Phewa Tal are all close to Pokhara, 55 kilometres to the southeast. Want more reasons to call in? Team 5 Nepal Paragliding and Avia Club Nepal aren't far away either.

Mountain biking and mountain climbing are extremely popular with the locals. These outdoor activities will allow you to see this incredible region from a completely different perspective.

Sure, we admit there's a certain charm to getting lost somewhere you've never been, but every now and then it's nice to reach your target on the first go. To avoid any difficulties along the way, book some wildlife spotting tours and wildlife safaris.

Imagine yourself with wings as you reach unbelievable heights. Intrepid travellers can get their kicks by going paragliding.

Practise one of your favourite hobbies or try your hand at something new in the waters around Nepal. You'll find a variety of invigorating watersports on offer, such as rafting and canoeing.

Step into the region's history museums and take in everything that they have to offer.

If you're hoping to learn something new about the region's past, pay a visit to a few historic palaces. Find a map, do some research and choose the most interesting one.

Experience the area's spiritual beliefs and traditions by organising a visit to its temples and shrines. Pause for your own quiet contemplation or simply observe the locals in prayer.

Whether you enjoy the thrill of Michelin stars or gnawing on a simple street snack, sampling the local food and drink is one of the best things about travel. So why not tingle your taste buds by tucking into some of the region's delicious offerings?

This region has some unique recipes centred on traditional ingredients and local tastes. Goat and chicken are two typical elements in many of the dishes.

Don't miss your chance to order a plate of kinema (soybeans) or chiura (beaten rice). These traditional dishes come highly recommended by the locals.

If you're not one to skip dessert, you should definitely acquaint yourself with kasaar (ball of rice flour and sugarcane juice). This sweet treat sums up the region in just one bite.

Security checkpoints, long lines and delayed flights. Airports are often stressful places. Give yourself extra time to get to Pokhara Airport (PKR). Located 60 kilometres to the southeast, it's the nearest terminal.

A piece of heaven
"A small piece of heaven in the middle of nowhere - gorgeous views, calm and very relaxing. The room was big, comfortable and with massive windows facing Nilgiri. It might have been expensive, but it was worth it after a week trekking the Annapurna circuit. The food was great too!"
