While lastminute.com.au has an awesome database of Hungary accommodations, you unfortunately won't find anywhere to lay your head in or close to Ketpo.

But there's no need to work yourself into a tizzy. Nagykoros is approximately 55 kilometres away and has some fabulous accommodations, including the Hotel Aquarell and Four Points by Sheraton Kecskemet Hotel & Conference Center.

Don't shoot through before you've gone to the Bishop's Palace and Eger Castle in Egerszalók. If you want to stay in Egerszalók, look into the Hotel Ködmön Wellness and Villa Völgy. Or, you could stay in Eger, 95 kilometres to the north of Ketpo, where you can pick from the Hunguest Hotel Flora and Senator-Ház. If you stay in Eger, set aside a little time to check out the Eger Minaret and Eger Lyceum.

Go 95 kilometres south and you'll find yourself in Szeged, a regional centre with a population of 160,000. While you're in this neck of the woods, whip out your selfie stick and get your tourist on at the Ferenc Mora Museum, Votive Church of Szeged and the Pick Salami and Szeged Paprika Museum. If you've got time to spare, keep the good times rolling with a visit to Szeged Observatory and Castle Museum & Lapidarium. There are numerous great hotels where you can snap up a room for a night or two in Szeged. Have a squiz at the facilities at the Art Hotel Szeged and Dóm Hotel.

If you're travelling with your mates and your flight hits the tarmac a bit earlier than theirs, why not head over to the Budapest Airport Hotel Stáció Wellness & Conference and put dibs on the best room? It's pretty close to Ferenc Liszt International Airport, which is 100 kilometres from the centre of town.
