as hotel was transferred to verdi, and the last 10+ years the quality and maintenance of the hotel went down. Staff is very nice, however can not handle all with "i am so sorry" the hotel really looks outdated, and sometimes corridors looks dirty as carpets are used. Spa/Pool area, after upgrading the sauna, looks dirty again, the 3rd pool, which was always hot, nice to relax is cold. Still believe that with small effort could be better

We loved this hotel. It is just a 20 minute walk, and five minutes on transit from the main touristy district. We prefer not to be right in the center of the tourist district, because the restaurants are all a rip off, and it is noisy. The Up Hotel has lots of little shops and cafes around it that locals use. There is a lovely small park across the street, where they had a children's music show and farmer's market on Saturday. We paid a little extra for the top floor terrace and it was worth it. We could see the church on castle hill from our balcony. There are lots of transit options within a few minutes walk that will get you anywhere in Budapest quickly. Getting there from the airport is easy: take the e100 express but to the center of town, "Deak Ferenc" and go 2 stops on the metro to "Octagon". From there just a couple of blocks walk. Travel usually comes with a few hassles, even on a good trip, but this time it didn't. I kept saying to my wife I felt like I was cheating, because this is all too easy. Check in staff was very unfriendly. Had checked in online, then had to do it again in person twice. First

Breakfast was over of avarage, clean is perfect but far from city center

What a joy. Perfect place to spend a night for an early morning flight. Nice drinks and food. Service was impeccable. Room was comfortable. Bed good and bathroom had plenty of room to move, including the shower. Well worth a visit. Takes the stress out of getting a 4am cab or shuttle.
