The property definitely needs updating. For a beach resort, the bathrooms had only a couple towel hooks, very bare bones-- appears that the walls have been painted a million times. It makes me wonder if (or hope) they are planning a renovation in the future. Maid service was disappointing, we didn't request service but once in a 4-night stay, and we had to call the front desk twice when we were left with 1 towel & no washcloths for 3 people, and no refills of the in-room coffee pods, cups, & condiments. Staff were otherwise every pleasant and accommodating. The location made up for all property shortcomings.

Communications, cleanliness and more: Our stay was unfortunately plagued by opportunities for improvement. 1. Room not really clean. Ugg, bloody (?) towel left behind curtain, chip on lamp and sticker on floor. 2. Bathroom is a slip and fall waiting to happen.No shower mat, had to use towels especially in shower. 3. Need a dedicated "Pool" elevator. All elevators were sandy and wet and plagued by tons of people with beach chairs and toys. 4.Front drive a real mess all weekend. We valet due to my spouse physical problems. Clear problems of driveway control. 5. A decent "resort fee" but beach chairs are not included (or discounted) $45 or so, thus horde of chairs in wet sandy elevators 6. Communications- Received text of welcome. I saved this text after we took off for our day from valet and they retained the key fob.Utilized the contact in text to report this. Thankfully we parked our car only several miles away. A fruitless 15 minutes. In this time I called 2 times and was finally called back by bell captain who offered to bring key fob to me. Good move. This all took about 1 hour which threw off our business day. Receive a rating request about 15 minutes later to rate how our " stay was going". I gave a "2" and was instantly asked if I could be called. My "anytime" was never. At check out..line of 12 people so I left figuring a email of receipt would follow,,It never did.. No matter how many "systems" you have for communication it can't make up a lack of follow through.

Loud multiple construction going on during stay; was not notified prior to stay. Many construction/improvements or upkeep/cleanliness of facility and PM and PM timing needing improvements and managed better. Room was not ready on time at time of check-in, 4pm upon arrival. Had to wait 1.5 hours before room was ready. Hotel advertisement clams rooms are ready no later than 4pm check-in time. Pool Towel management and availability ended at 3pm daily which is too early in the day for hotel pool activities. Several light bulbs in room were burnt out or flickering severely at arrival, they had 1.5 hours to get the room ready and failed to do so. Concierge luggage handling unvocal, unapproachable and unpleasant. Was told during check-in that $100 would be removed from stay due to room not being ready at check-in and $100 was not. Had to remind customer service at check-out and was questioned about my accuracy in remembering. Disrespectful. Unacceptable. This use to be a Marriott and is now a Hilton. We will not be staying at this hotel nor will we be suggesting this hotel to anyone going forward. Half of the pool deck was blocked off from paying residents for a private golf event instead of utilizing one of the many private event spaces that were clearly not in use. Poor management. Did not feel like a valued customer.

This was the worst experience we ever had. As first time visitors to Hilton Head, we were excited to have a PREMIUM ocean front room. First off, the property is gorgeous. The staff is welcoming and kind. G, our cabana server, was the most amazing ever. We loved our morning beach walks. Other guests were very pleasant. However, that’s the positive. Our room had a terrible smell of sewer. We had the balcony door open 24/7. The drawers were broken. The vent had mold. The shower faucet was falling off. We ended up getting our room moved after reaching a breaking point. The new room smelled better. But…that one had a shower that scalded you, then shut all pressure off. The toilet didn’t flush. The sink water was burning hot at all times. To include a $30 per day resort fee was laughable. Our expectations were high of the Hilton name. A clean, safe room is not a lot to ask when rates were not cheap. Let me say that Natasha was so sorry to hear of our troubles. She was truly apologetic. She did give us a bit of a credit, but it in no way fixed our stay. We could not wait to check out, to the point of me crying. Never again.

Properties location was great. Great ocean views. Bed was very hard and the pillows were awful. They were changing out the cable boxes on the TV’s and didn’t tell us. No TV one night and last day a lady just knocked and walked right into our room without asking if it was okay to fix something on the TV. Didn’t like that at all. Free lounge chairs around pool were very uncomfortable but you could pay daily (NOT) for the comfortable ones. Other than that staff was nice.

Unfortunately, the rooms, poolside restrooms and indoor public restrooms were not very clean. The rooms need updating and deeper cleans. We had an issue with our room and were moved to a room with even more “wear and tear” , room keys didn’t work and staff was confused as to which room we were even in.

Only real positive is that this hotel is beachfront. Be prepared to hear noise from adjacent rooms, noise in halls from housekeeping and others, water pressure extremely low in faucet and shower, and must pay for daily use of beach chairs and umbrella and another daily charge for pool chairs with cushions

We love this Hilton Head Island Resort & Spa. We've been coming here under Marriott since 2020 or 2021. We always come after Thanksgiving for about 4 days, and around New Years and Spring. This year, we did it for our actual 20 year Anniversary. It is the perfect beach front location and across from Shelter Cove. The staff here is great, Kitty, the Concierge, just retired so I am very sad. It was our 20 year anniversary and they surprised us with Champagne, a card and chocolate covered strawberries. The door attendants are a treasure and so kind and helpful. This is truly our "home away from home." Thank you to all who always make our stays so relaxing and special. We love you!!!

Birthday Celebration

Great location - pool and beach area were well appointed. Poolside service is convenient. Staff was attentive and front desk was able to provide adjoining rooms for the entire stay even though we added an additional night.

Subpar

I chose this hotel based on past reviews was extremely disappointed at the condition of the beach the cost of chair rentals and conditions of the wooden chairs. The parking set up whereby you have to walk up and down a ramp to access your car was not ideal. The foo/restaurant was was very good and pool area enjoyable. Did not appreciate room location where we had to go up and down and up to access facilities. Felt like beach was a public beach however could be because of recent storms. First time to HH would look elsewhere. Was not a tropical Hilton experience.

We were forced to change rooms twice after checking in. The first was due to our room's toilet leaking at the base any time it was flushed. The 2nd move was caused by a TV that did not work. A service person spent an hour trying to get a workable TV, bringing in 3 television set - none of which would get reception. The elevators and floors were dirty. The staff did nothing to compensate us for having to change rooms twice. I expected to have a discount for the inconveniences caused through no fault of our own. I would not recommend the Hilton to anyone staying in Hilton Head based upon our experience.
