Don't skedaddle before you've had a squiz at the Timmelsjoch and the Gaislachkogl Gondola in Soelden. If you'd like to visit Soelden, look into the rates at the Alpina and Bäckelar Wirt. Just got back from a short stay at Vigilius Mountain Resort and it completely lived up to the hype. Taking the chair lift up to the hotel is such a cool experience, and the next one up to the hiking trails is incredibly serene — quiet, peaceful, and with some of the best views you’ll find anywhere. The food and wine were excellent, the staff were warm and attentive, and the whole place has this calm, design-driven atmosphere that feels both modern and timeless. The architecture and interiors are stunning — kind of like something straight out of Mad Men. Wish I’d stayed longer.
