Beware of Hotel Manager Cancellation

Made prepaid reservation via hotels.com and received confirmation email of reservation. Upon arrival at hotel at 9pm the night of stay I was told by the front desk my reservation was cancelled by the hotel General Manager (Nicolas Geanta). The manager was not available to determine reason for cancelation, but I do know the hotel was booked and a bonvoy elite customer was provided a room at last minute by cancelling a reservation -- what I heard front desk person say while I waited to check in myself I obviously will not book this hotel again
