Disliked: Amenities
This hotel was built in the 50s and hasn’t been touched since. The rooms are old and look worn and dirty. The sink is tiny with zero counter space. The bathroom floor is old, dirty tile and the carpet is gross (stained and dirty). I would book elsewhere… for the price. We only stayed one night and would not book there again.
The location in the national park was the biggest perk. The dining options close by were great too!

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, amenities
The staff were exceptional. Polite, friendly and honest. Do to a delay at our El Tovar breakfast, we were unable to get back to the room until a few minutes past check out. Cleaning staff had already started cleaning the room. We'd left a camera charging and the room cleaner had it sent to the front desk for us. The front desk clerk was able to return it to us without delay. Overall the stay was nice. Beds comfortable, and room had enough amenities. The whole building and area needs better maintenance. A monumental task given the amount of guest turnover. Doubt enough funding and hiring of staff will happen any time soon under the current Gov's budget cuts. A BIG THANKS to all the parks staff still at work during our Gov's shutdown.
Its decent. Its a national park. It isnt pretty. It isnt fancy. It needs updating. Amenities limited. Photos look better than reality. Said there was a pull out couch in each room per description, but our rooms only had 2 queens. Not sure how that sleeps 5, as stated.
Staff was friendly and the room was clean and quiet. TV/channels left a lot to be desired, but it is the Grand Canyon so you don’t need it. Breakfast was not free but the dining hall was reasonably priced and good food.
Very clean room in the Grand Canyon park- great location for getting around the park via shuttle busses. Beds were comfortable and clean towels and linens. Only critique is it got loud with tourists slamming doors at night and early in the morning.
Great location in a wooded area close to Grand Canyon Village. Low level building with about 8 rooms in each block.
Long queue for check in so did self check in which worked fine.

Great location and awesome staff. Building is on the older side so can be noisy between floors and stairs. But if you're in the middle rooms on second floor you won't have any noise issues.
Convenient to Grand Canyon. Rooms are separate buildings from lodge and restaurant, so you have to drive to go to breakfast dinner or bar - rooms were ok nice but lots of stuff stored in hall. Noisy neighbors.
No elevator so very grateful to be on ground floor.
The lodge itself is bigger than expected but offers you what you expect, its based in a good location to get around and the bus shuttle service is very easy and convenient to use to get around the park, in addition the food and bar services are great for a lodge experience and the staff were helpful and knowledgeable - overall exceeded my expectations 👏👏
