We enjoyed the convenience of the hotel. Food was somewhat pricy but, again, convenient. Lighting at the cottages made them difficult to find after dark (at check-in when we didn’t know the area). Nice, quiet location nestled in the woods.
Well located in the park, which was why we stayed here. The bed was comfortable. There was a nice television.
Having stayed at other national park lodgings, we suspected it might be rustic, which we are okay with, for the convenience of staying in the park. Our room badly needed a whole new bathroom— the toilet was actually leaning. The tub and floor were badly chipped. The whole bathroom was dirty with grime along every ledge. It was very easy to hear every door slam and conversation within 50 feet of our room.
If you eat at the Yavapai dining hall, order ala carte because the “chuck wagon” option is food served from a buffet, and it is all overcooked or overdone (except for the desserts, which were scrumptious, and the salad bar. Anything ordered ala carte is excellent.
This lodge was a great place to stay while we visited the Grand Canyon. It was easy to walk to either the Visitor's Center or to nearby bus stops. The Deli and restaurant had a good selection for meals as well. The room was easy to get to and very clean with everything we needed. It was cool to see elk walking around the property. I'd definitely recommend staying here!
Like: close to a grocery mart that has a deli
Dislike: hairdryer isn’t good quality, less dustbin. They should have 1 for the room, 1 for the bathroom. Pillow is very soft. Not really sound proof, as I can hear my neighbour’s alarm ringing in early morning 5am. Only has DTV cable tv channel so very limited such as BBC, USA.
Also note wifi is not available in room, only in the main lobby which is few mins drive away
Loved the location of our stay at Yavapai Lodge East! Our room was comfortable and clean, seemed to be recently updated, and was quietly nestled in the pine tree forest between the south rim visitor center and Grand Canyon village. We could walk the greenway path to the visitor center, walk to breakfast and a grocery store/market near the main Lodge, or hop on the park shuttle to venture other places within the national park very easily. The staff were all friendly and welcoming. It was great being inside the park so we didn’t have to fight the lines of traffic at the park’s main entrance each day!
We really enjoyed our stay. The lodges are scattered about (you have to drive from the check-in location). With the location of our room, we were able to walk to the main Grand Canyon visitor center (15-20 mins) and got to see 20 elk that hang out in the area. We were also able to walk to breakfast at the main Yavapai center. We did drive into town one night for dinner and was glad we chose to stay within the park rather than town. Also, the line to get into GC was quite long when we were leaving.
The location was excellent! While it is not right at the rim of the Grand Canyon like the Bright Angel or El Tovar, it’s a short drive or shuttle bus away. The rooms were nice and spacious. There was ample parking spots in front of the rooms and dining offered by the lobby. The meal prices were decent as were the portions. Staying inside the park was so convenient and a wonderful experience. Don’t forget to look at the sky full of stars when it gets dark. It’s breathtaking

Liked: Staff & service, amenities
Old room, bathroom leaking from upper unit, could use upkeep and maintenance
The rooms were fine. A microwave would have been nice. The ice machine was turned off for the season with no alternative for free ice. While I understand the machine being turned off as it’s located outside in the mountains, an alternative would have been appreciated. The dinner in the Yavapai lodge was awful. Pork was dry, fish was overcooked, green beans were obviously from a can. Lunch from the visitors center was delicious - really good sandwiches.
