If you're headed to Gradec, take note — accommodation options in the vicinity are as scant as the hair on your great uncle Terry's head!

But don't work yourself into a tizzy just yet. Sveti Ivan Zelina is approximately 20 kilometres away and boasts awesome places to crash, such as the Hotel Phoenix and Hotel Zovko.

Looking for things to do? Spend the day checking out the Park Maksimir and the Zagreb Zoo. You'll find them in Zagreb, 45 kilometres to the west of Gradec. Property is in desperate need of a renovation. The bathroom appears to be about 50 years old. The room had an overwhelming fragrance that smelled like baby powder that made me think they were trying to cover an unpleasant odor. There were food crumbs beside the bed, so the room clearly hadn't been vacuumed. The staff we encountered were friendly and that was the only redeeming quality.
