Reception staff were the best part of our stay — very friendly and helpful. The car park is tiny, hard to find, and cars often need to be moved, which increases the risk of damage (nothing happened to ours, but it felt stressful). Our room was spacious and warm but dated, with worn towels, and the hotel overall could use modernisation. Checkout was slow and awkward: we were asked again for card details for snacks/minibar despite not using anything, and we had to wait while they checked the room. The lift also stopped working one morning, which was inconvenient from the third floor

The size of the quad was enormous. Lovely little hotel with the most beautiful lobby. The bar was fabulous and there was a great Trad session in swing. Will definitely be back.

We stayed here one night, and were very pleased that we were able to check in a little early after a redeye flight. I had mentioned upon booking that we were celebrating something and the hotel staff had left a special treat for us and a handwritten note on the table in our room. The location is unbeatable, the price is fair, and the charm of staying in a hotel as old as this one can't be beat. I would recommend this to others and I would stay here again.

The Western Hotel is located in the heart of Galway – an easy 5-10 minute walk to downtown and Eyre Square. Despite on-going renovations, the front staff were wonderful and got us checked into our room. The rooms were large by Irish standards and were ideal for several days. We loved the time and can’t wait to come-back.

This hotel is very walkable to everything in.Galway, we did not like the attitude of some of the employees as they seem to be bothered by our requests.For mortels and toilet paper et cetera
