Beautiful hotel

What a jewel of a property; amazing grounds, spotless rooms and excellent food were high points. Expected three star quality and was astonished upon check in. Excellent pool with sharp poolside service. Hotel is located adjacent to Udawalawe National Park Excellent safari coordinated by hotel, fully facilitated from start to finish. The restaurant staff was particularly kind and hospitable - run, don't walk to the hotel.

Staff always have a smile and will get you anything you need. Nice and clean room and communal areas, good variety of food. Great location if you are visiting for the Safari, only ten minutes up the road. The transition centre, where you can see the young elephants being fed, is even closer.

Every member of staff that we met from arrival to departure was fantastic. Very polite, courteous & extremely helpful. Catered for all our needs. We booked this place last minute due to having to change our original plan (Kandy & Ella) because of the recent Cyclone. Although Lagoon Gate can appear a little isolated it is an absolute gem as you are in and amongst nature & right on the Lagoons edge. It is so easy to get out & about, the staff will order Tuk Tuks or Taxis for you or if you feel adventurous you have free use of bikes which we made full use of. Also, the hotel provides use of Kayaks to use on the Lagoon. The rooms are spacious & very clean overlooking Rekawa Lagoon. We had evening meals in the hotel on several occasions & I have to say, the authentic Sri Lankan Curry was outstanding! Breakfast is delightful with a good choice & freshly made. Would definitely recommend this place. Arrived as guests, left as friends!

Fabulous place!! The people here are so helpful and friendly! Well, it is Sri Lanka after all!! What a gem this hotel is, the spa treatments are fab and even though we didn't pay for meals to be included we have eaten most of our meals here, lovely!! Would definitely stay again. rooms are clean and spacious and the staff will supply you with anything you should need. Fab!!!
