The location was great. It was a quick, flat walk to town where there are a lot of shops, bars, and restaurants. Overall, the lodge is nice and has most of what you'd need. The common area was nicely decorated. There was a Keurig with kcups available as well as a drip coffee pot and a case of water. The place could benefit from a bit more upkeep as the floors were not very clean (I stepped on crushed up candy in our room). Our room (202) had a slight wet-dog type odor and was also missing towels, but luckily I was able to find some in a linen closet down the hall.
The room had a musty smell to it, the shower smelt like pee, overall it didn't have a clean and fresh feel. There were bright flashing lights in the room that we needed to cover up. The check in was confusing as there were no instructions sent to me. Thank goodness we got there at a good time because by the time I called to get the code and see where our room actually was, the guy answered while he was already at the bar drinking. I can deal with that stuff but what really got me was the noise. Other guests were there partying, smoking weed in the building, yelling, tumbling around, playing loud music until 430 am. The walls were so thin, it sounded like they were in the room with us. I attempted to reach out to the property management, via call twice and a text - no answer. There was no staff on site to deal with the issue so we had to go out and tell them to keep it down ourselves - which they didn't really quiet down much at all. Whats the point of the quiet time signs if theres no one to enforce them? Eventually they finally went to bed and the building was finally quiet, and all I could hear was our bed squeaking. Constantly. Without us even moving. I got no sleep at all. The next day I never got a response about last night, no apology or anything. Pretty much ruined my time trying to snowboard the next day due to being so tired. I would never stay here again.
This is a pretty run down place that they're clinging to keeping alive. The hot tub was a consistent 90 degrees and the top wouldn't stop blowing off. You can tell the cabin is very dated and they just keep slapping modern upgrades on top of one another. There was no key present like it says in the emails. Which made it tough to locl up and run to town after arrival. The bed is an old spring matress with a cheap foam topper tossed on top. The shower is tiny. And the windows were extremely drafty on a cold winters night. The price of this room definitely did not reflect the quality, and Im quite upset with myself for not making a better choice. But it was a cozy night alone with the wife alone after all. Only reason it gets the extra star. Otherwise this would be a complete loss.
Nice clean room and great common area for all to use…

Disliked: Room comfort
This review is about Suite 103. We booked it for 4 adults. It had 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom. Check-in was easy: a code was sent to us via text to unlock the keypad. But it was all downhill from there.
Beds were terribly uncomfortable. Bedrooms did not have a dresser or closet! Nor was there a place to put an open suitcase except on the floor.
Bathroom was large but was a lot of empty space; it had only a small vanity and small dimly-lit shower. No towel bars, hooks, shelves. Towels were old and were stacked on a stool.
The property needs a lot of TLC. The good news is, there have been improvements since our last stay. The owners are really trying to upgrade. We will stay here again.
My wife and I enjoyed the room we stayed in. It was large and nice clean. We enjoyed having plenty of space to sit. Only downside is no towel holders in the bathroom. The lodge is walking distance from everything in downtown Ellicottville.
