Borgarfjordur Eystri is located 30 kilometres to the northeast of Eidar. While here, take the time to swing by Bakkageroi Church. Borgarfjordur Eystri contains some nice places to spend the night, including the Álfheimar and Blabjorg Guesthouse. You might like to also visit Neskaupsstadur, the proud home of the Safnahúsið. Neskaupsstadur is found 40 kilometres to the southeast of Eidar. The Guesthouse Tonspil and Hildibrand Hotel are all good places to get some rest in Neskaupsstadur.

We had the most charming stay a the Lake Hotel Gistihusid in Eglisstadir. The room triple room felt like a full on apartment- it was spacious, modern, and cozy. We enjoyed access to the onsite Spa. The staff was responsive and friendly to all of our requests. Breakfast was a highlight- many options, with a lot of Icelandic influence. We dined at the restaurant for two evenings. We found the food delicious and very good value in comparison to other restaurant hotels we ate at in Iceland. Overall this was our best value stay in all of Iceland. We will definitely return to this hotel on our next tour of East Iceland.
