Japan's capital city, Tokyo, is situated roughly 820 kilometres to the east of Ego.
Go for a relaxing walk and feel the cool sea breeze on your face at Momochi Beach or Iwaya Beach.
Inhale some fresh air and contemplate the natural surroundings of Hiraodai. It's located 35 kilometres away from Ego. You can also experience more peace and quiet at Sugao No Taki Waterfall, 35 kilometres away.
If you can't imagine a getaway that doesn't involve some live sports, check what events are scheduled at Global Arena. It's likely something will be on while you visit. You can locate the venue 45 kilometres away in Munakata.
Are you into swinging by Road Station Kikugawa and Kawatana Onsen? They're near the middle of Shimonoseki, 9 kilometres to the north. Alternatively, travel to Sanyoonoda. It's 20 kilometres to the east of Ego and regarded for Ryuozan Park and Ejio Park.
Dazaifu, 75 kilometres to the southwest, is a great little excursion You can use it as a base when stopping by the Kyushu National Museum, Dazaifu Tenmangu and the Komyozenji Temple. If you're still not convinced, other nearby attractions include the Kanzeonji Temple and Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine.

Don't let the language barrier put you off! Make your adventure to Yamaguchi a more fulfilling one by putting in the effort to learn a couple of phrases in the local tongue. You'll be glad you learnt 'Kanpai', which is how you say 'cheers/good health!'. Another common phrase is 'Gokoūn o inorimasu' ('good luck').

If you're flying in and out, you'll likely go through Fukuoka Airport (FUK). It's 70 kilometres to the southwest. Pack your suitcases, plan a convenient route and set your alarm clock!
