You won't have to be stuck inside a car all day to see a bit of nature. Just 40 kilometres out of Eemshaven, Lauwersmeer National Park is a popular place to fill your lungs with fresh air. Even more tranquil surrounds await at Schiff Feuerschiff Borkum National Park, 15 kilometres away.

Are you looking for some gripping soccer action? Then come and watch the FC Groningen lock horns with the opposition on their home turf of Euroborg, 30 kilometres away in Groningen.

If you're considering venturing further afield, journey 9 kilometres south to Holwierde. This is where you'll come across Aquariom and Jachthaven 't Dok. We also recommend swinging by Appingedam, 14 kilometres to the south, for the De Molenberg and Museum & Seaaquarium Delfzijl.
