We like the way the rooms are configured; however, the low stools in the bathroom and the lack of safety bars are making the Atheneum an increasingly uncomfortable option for us older folks.

No breakfast

We bragged about this hotel for years so we all came for a friends 21st birthday and insisted we have breakfast there before the Tigers game. After we sat for 20 minutes without be acknowledged, a waitress finally walked by and we asked if we could at least put a drink order in. Her response was “not for another 10 minutes”. I don’t care how busy you are, that attitude is not acceptable.

Staff was excellent. The decor was a little tired but our room was huge and clean and the bed was super comfortable. Bar was great and the bartender, Rita, made great drinks. Great rates, great service, safe and a lovely hotel.
