Holidays in Dandry
Take it from us, Dandry is the kinda place that's worth calling in your annual leave for. It's located in Central New South Wales, a popular region that's brimming with incredible rural landscapes, rivers, mountains and valleys. Need we say more?
It's located 490 kilometres north of Canberra, the capital city of Australia.
The splendour of Mother Nature can be seen in multiple places around Dandry. Just 13 kilometres away, Sandstone Caves is a good place to start. Dandry Creek Gorge sits 25 kilometres away and is another nice spot for some peace and quiet.
Baradine is 30 kilometres to the west and worth having a look at. After more ideas? Coonabarabran, 45 kilometres to the southwest of Dandry, ought to be on your travel plan.
There's no better way to discover the local region than on an exciting adventure. Sign up for a bit of hiking or horse riding and get your blood pumping!
Sticking to a jam-packed travel schedule can be tiring. Why not arrange a trip into the great outdoors and spend a relaxing day picnicking or bird watching?
Ease the stress of organising your sightseeing by taking some culinary tours and winery tours. Rub shoulders with fellow travellers as your helpful tour guide shows you everything that this region has on offer.
While your legs might wobble a bit at first, you don't need to be an extreme sports junkie to try sky diving. Once you've taken a few deep breaths, you'll quickly realise it's a superb way to see a bit more of the place!
The region's art museums, history museums, art galleries and craft workshops have something for everyone. Step through the doors and check out what's happening.
If you have good weather, pack up the car and head outdoors to explore the surrounding area's open-air museums, open-air exhibits and farms.
Your eyes shouldn't have all the fun while you're in Central New South Wales. Give your taste buds a little TLC too by indulging in the local food and drink. After all, you can't say you've truly experienced a destination until you've tasted its flavours.
Wondering about a few of the surprises that'll be served up on your plate? There's every chance they'll include beef, oysters or maybe even both.
Ask a local what to eat in Dandry and salt and pepper squid will probably be among the first things they advise. Meat pie is another iconic local food you should keep a lookout for.
Dinner isn't complete without dessert, so give up counting calories and lay into one of the most enticing after-dinner treats, peach melba.
For those who love a satisfying pint, find the nearest bar and say Hahn. Enjoy a glass with a side of storytelling and mingling with the regulars.
Want to get the party going? A shot of Bundaberg Spiced Rum ought to do it! Straight up or in a fancy cocktail — the choice is yours!
You needn't be a wine authority to appreciate a nice glass! Here, Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon and Orange region Merlot can't be missed.
If you're flying in and out, you'll likely go through Kingsford Smith International Airport (SYD). It's 370 kilometres to the southeast. Pack up your suitcase, map a route and set your alarm clock!

Wagon Wheel Motel
The room was clean and appropriate for the tariff paid. The place is a little long in the tooth, but does offer a comfortable bed and all the usual amenities...I would stay here again, if I was to be in this area.
