Holidays in Daintree

Awesome! You've had your leave signed off. Now all that's left to do is say hasta la vista to your boss and book a ticket to Daintree — pronto!

It sits 2,100 kilometres to the north of Canberra, the capital of Australia.

For a day of family bonding and fun, bring everyone to the Daintree Mangroves Wildlife Sanctuary.

Look for seashells to collect or try to spot creatures like starfish and seabirds at Clifton Beach and Palm Cove Beach. You'll find these irresistible strips of coastline 70 kilometres and 65 kilometres away, respectively.

Head further afield of Daintree and you'll run into some picturesque natural sights. Just 25 kilometres away, Mossman Gorge is a fabulous spot to soak up some sunshine. We also suggest Daintree Discovery Centre, 11 kilometres away from Daintree.

Get to know the area's past with a visit to Daintree Village.

Forest Creek, 8 kilometres to the east, is regarded for the Daintree Wild Zoo and the Daintree Entomological Museum. Why not make your way there and go to these wonderful sights? Alternatively, you could stop at Lower Daintree, 8 kilometres to the southeast of Daintree, for Hook-A-Barra and Tropical Sea Kayaks.

Go on an adventure and visit some sights in Kewarra Beach. This place is 70 kilometres to the southeast and not too far from the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway, the Half Moon Bay Golf Course and the Tjapukai Cultural Park. Of course, don't miss the Paradise Palms Country Club and Rainforestation Nature Park either.

Your eyes shouldn't have all the fun while visiting Daintree - Cape Tribulation. Give your taste buds a little attention too by indulging in some of the local food and drink. After all, you haven't truly experienced a destination until you've tasted its flavours.

Searching for some insight into the regional cuisine? We recommend getting a taste for beef and bush tucker, two traditional ingredients which make up a range of dishes here.

Of course, you can't go to Daintree without introducing your taste buds to salt and pepper squid or meat pie. Popular with locals and considered signature recipes, they are a must-try experience for any self-respecting food fan.

Dinner isn't dinner without dessert, so don't worry about counting calories and get stuck into one of the most well-known after-dinner treats, peach melba.

They say life's not all beer and skittles, but there's nothing wrong with relaxing with a cold one on occasion. When you're in this area, ensure it's XXXX Summer Bright Lager.

Bundaberg Spiced Rum is the spirit of choice for most locals in Daintree - Cape Tribulation. Throw down a shot to get the night started!

Raise a glass of a local favourite like Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon or Riverina Chardonnay. Expert sommelier or not, there's nothing else like a nice drop.

Time to go home? Be sure to catch your last sunset in the gorgeous Daintree - Cape Tribulation region before you bid farewell.

When you're ready to pack your bag and head home, the closest terminal, Cairns International Airport (CNS), is 85 kilometres to the southeast.
