It's located 1,600 kilometres west of the country's capital, Washington.

Mother Nature's artwork is on display in many places around Cosmos. Just 50 kilometres away, Nature Trail Park is an excellent place to start. Sibley State Park sits 50 kilometres away and is another pleasant spot for a bit of downtime.

Take in the views from the chairlift at Eagle Mountain as you decide on your next run. Along with Riverside Park, this snow-covered wonderland boasts some of the best skiing and snowboarding in the region.

You'll find even more just around the corner. Darwin, 25 kilometres to the northeast, is known for Prairie Park and Minnesota Twine Ball. Though, if the Kandiiyohi County Historical Society and Robbins Island Park sound better to you, travel 30 kilometres northwest from Cosmos to Kandiyohi.

Essig, 70 kilometres to the south, is a great day trip. You can use it as a base when visiting John Lind House, Schonlau Park and the Brown County Historical Society. If you need more persuading, other nearby sights include the Minnesota Music Hall of Fame and Wanda Gag House.
