The Donaho house was in a beautiful location and sparkling inside. If you like simple decor and clean decor then you will love this place. The views of the glaciers and mountains was beautiful and the house is situated perfectly to enjoy them. The walk to town is safe and manageable but bring your walking shoes. Please note, there is not a microwave so plan accordingly with your meals. Always fun to get creative. It's worth the adventure and extra work to get there. We stayed 3 glorious nights and wish we had booked another. You will love this place!

Excellent service and people. The age and history of the lodge is remarkable. The kitchen prepareds wonderful meals and very proud to do so. I would highly recommend the Gokona Lodge to all looking for a quiet out of the way place.

James and Christina were absolutely wonderful hosts! They were so interesting to talk with and to share their knowledge and experiences living in Alaska. They want to provide their guests with a quality experience and comfort and they certainly do that. Their cabins are awesome! The decor and thought put into these cabins are quality and comfort. Their cabins are by far are 10 times better than anywhere else we stayed while in Alaska; including the Mt. McKinley Princess Lodge. Each morning they served a wonderful breakfast cooked on the Blackstone grill in the cookhouse. Breakfast was pancakes, scrambled eggs, hash browns, bacon sausage. Coffee, hot tea, milk and fresh orange juice, and bottled water. The cookhouse was available for our use at any time. It had everything you would need to cook a meal; including spices and a refrigerator for our use. We highly recommend this lodge for your stay in this area.
