A hotel in dire need of moderisation

The first impression of the hotel in the lobby was good, quite modern, but all other areas are in dire need of refurbishment. The room was dark and dingy with old furniture not suitable for a modern day hotel. The bathroom had an old fashioned shower curtain over a low bath which led to water on the floor after each shower leading to visible damage to the door. The room had single glazed windows which meant the room was very noisy. We reported that there was no safety deposit box in the room as advertised and the coffee machine did not work but these issues were not resolved. Our 'suite' had a refrigerator and microwave but no utensils so were of no real use at all. Maintenance (hammering) of the room above was carried out before 8am one morning during our stay. The corridors and lifts are in need of updating. We would certinly not stay in this hotel again and not recommend it to other travellers.

Perfect location. It’s a little farther south, so it’s the perfect balance of the lively city but also quieter than the busier areas. Walking distance to the transit system and every amenity you could need. Definitely recommend for anybody coming to Chicago

The location is the best thing about this hotel—it’s perfectly situated for sightseeing, especially if you want to visit the museums at Museum Campus. We walked to those museums as well as the Art Institute, Sears Tower, the Riverwalk, and more. There are many good dining options nearby as well. The room was clean, but housekeeping only came once in our 3-night stay. We would stay here again, especially since the location is so perfect.

Property is very dated and needs updating. It’s clean and staff are helpful. Great bakery next to it which you can enter without leaving the building. This can get very busy at breakfast time and isn’t cheap but is very good. Right opposite Grant Park which is huge and busy so feels safe even after dark. Few mins walk to Roosevelt station away the park which is on 3 lines so easy to get about the city from there.

Poor condition of hotel

There were many things that were in poor condition during my stay at this hotel including: - HVAC system being completely unreliable, poorly installed, and not responding to settings. - Some gym equipment was completely inoperable and seemed to have been that way for a long time. - Room was not clean upon arrival, including a left over washcloth under the bed. - Shower bar was falling down, cracked tile - Paint coming off the bathroom door
